Comprehensive help for women and children from Ukraine

They survived the bombings. They spent many days in the cellars. They fled with their children, covering hundreds of kilometers. Millions of Ukrainian women found themselves without means of livelihood overnight and had to start anew.

Forced emigration, adaptation to the new reality and a difficult economic situation make Ukrainian women not only extremely mentally and physically burdened, but also vulnerable to fraud, various types of violence and exploitation (including SGBV and human trafficking).

Providing them with decent living conditions, providing them with psychological support and professional activation are the priority assumptions of the projects: “Comprehensive Assistance for Women and Children from Ukraine”, which we implement together with our partners: Žene za Žene International, Women for Women International and the Embassy of Germany in Poland.

So far, we have evacuated 864 refugees (mostly women and children) from Mariupol and the occupied territories. We found safe homes for them in Opole, Warsaw and Bielsko-Biała. We provided psychological care to all of them and helped them get back on their feet.

In this edition of our project, we want to help several hundred more war refugees and their children.

What we do?

  • we provide them with accommodation and basic necessities
  • we offer psychological support in the form of individual and group sessions, thanks to which our beneficiaries can work through traumas related to the SGBV experience, loss of loved ones, emigration.
  • we provide assistance related to all administrative matters, e.g. obtaining a PESEL number, enrolling a child to school, etc.,
  • we provide free legal advice
  • we conduct professional consultations and organize various types of training, thanks to which it is easier for the beneficiaries to find a job and become financially independent.

Thanks to cooperation with Women for Women International, which has been supporting women experiencing SGBV in war-torn countries for years, and Žene za Žene International, an organization established to support victims of the conflict in Bosnia, the employees of the Human Doc Foundation receive the necessary tools and training to better understand refugee women and be able to provide them with comprehensive assistance.
