Poland. Two-Day Holiday of Science and Culture – Global Studies & HumanDoc Festival

A good documentary guarantees even stronger emotions than entertainment cinema. Beautiful pictures, touching stories – these are pure emotions, magnified by the fact that all of them are true. What if we combine the film screenings with some meetings with special guests? That’s exactly what happened during the two-day educational event, supported with culture.

“Global Studies & HumanDoc Festival”, an event organized by HumanDoc Foundation in Opole, became a platform for meetings with the authors, scientists, but also with touching documentaries that bring closer to the audience the world around us. On the one hand, it was like a breath of fresh air, on the other – they gave hope and optimism in the times, where news about disasters are dominant.

Documentary film screenings and all the events like meetings with the guests and workshops, were an opportunity for unusual experiences.

The film screenings were preceded by workshops for the whole families. The moderator, Mariola Jakacka, expert in Global Education, conducted an interactive show with the participants, which presented the problems with access to water in the concrete cities. By building the installation together with the participants, Mariola Jakacka showed what happens with the rain water in a city of concrete.

There was yet another attraction for our participants – meeting with the director of the awarded documentary “Janka”, Adela Kaczmarek, with the scientists from University of Opole, as well as with the head of local branch of Gazeta Wyborcza, Anita Dmitruczuk, involved in environmental issues.
