Based on the experience of Polish experts – psychologists and policemen – we have created programs of trainings for the professional groups, which are included in the domestic violence prevention system. We created from scratch a support model for the therapeutic work with the perpetrators of violence, which has been included in resocialization system of the National Probation Agency.
Since 2016, we’ve been supporting the domestic violence prevention system under the “Polish Aid” program. We started with some local actions in Samegrelo region. Currently, we are active in four regions of Georgia. We educate professional groups included in the domestic violence prevention system.
We are building from scratch support centers and we renovate the existing ones. We opened the first in the region Family Support Center in Zugdidi – a specialized center helping everyone experiencing the problem of violence. As the first and the only organization, we train doctors and teachers in the basics of domestic violence prevention. Together with Georgian institutions, we are creating a pioneer therapy program for the perpetrators of domestic violence.
None of these projects would be possible if it wasn’t for the help of the experts from Poland. In each of our project, we try to strike the balance between providing our beneficiaries with help and the way we can organize this help. The success of our projects depends not only on a clearly specified goal, but also on the choice of partners – experienced experts involved in the projects, who share the same values as HumanDoc.
In all our activities in this area are involved 9 institutions, including ministries and government agencies. HumanDoc Foundation and our experts enjoy the reputation of very professional, effective and reliable team.
years of experience in effective project implementation
Polish policemen trained over 200 Georgian officers in the area of appropriate interventions in domestic violence situations
in cooperation with HumanDoc, Polish experts have prepared the first correction program for the perpetrators.

The main expert partner of HumanDoc Foundation in the area of psychological support is Specialized Support Centre for the Domestic Violence Victims in Opole. This center can pride itself on many achievements in the field of violence prevention system in Georgia.
Barbara Leszczyńska, the director of the Specialized Support Centre for the Domestic Violence Victims in Opole, was the first one to create in Georgia training programs for teachers and doctors. She is also the co-author of methodological materials. She plays the role of a mentor and advisor in our shelter and Family Support Centre.
The psychological staff in the Specialized Support Centre for the Domestic Violence Victims in Opole – Edyta Rybak and Natalia Czarnecka, have been responsible for training local psychologists in the area of work with violence victims. The therapist on the other hand, Anna Wołoszczuk, prepared the first in Georgia training for psychologists in the field of work with domestic violence perpetrators.
Thanks to the immense engagement of our experts, we were able to instill into the project participants – psychologists, pedagogues, social workers, teachers, emergency line operators – the Polish model of work with the victims and perpetrators. By opening the shelter for women and children as well as the family support center, we created a model system of the regional support for violence victims in families, based on Polish solutions.
From the very beginning of the project, we’ve been cooperating with the Provincial Police Headquarters in Opole. The policemen M. Kedra and K. Adamiec have been training Georgian officers in correct intervention in the case of domestic violence situations for four years now. They share their knowledge using the analysis of certain cases from their personal, long experience.
This experience is supported with strong theoretical preparations in the field of law, policemen’s obligations and psychology. The trainers do not forget about one of the most important factors – empathy.
So far, our Polish officers have trained over 200 Georgian policemen.
